THE PAINTING ON OUR WALL You may or may not be familiar with the timeless painting to your right, but it is in fact deeply encoded with a message. The title is "Liberty Leading The People," painted by Mr. Eugene Delacroix in 1830. Lady Liberty, or Marianne, is depicted with her dress half torn, the flag of the French Revolution in hand, and the dead bodies at her feet as the true price of freedom and liberty. At her feet, a peasant prays to God. To her right, a child follows with two guns in hand. To her left, a mob, featuring a middle-class man and a rich man with a top hat at the forefront. But perhaps most inspiring is the analysis that millions of people have interpreted from this great masterpiece. OUR MISSION Society is much like this painting. There is no single standard, but instead mixed messages and an abundance of opinions from many different types of people, some rich and more poor. More than 4 billion people live on less than two dollars a day. The mission that we must stand by is opening the eyes of the many in hopes of casting a shadow on the once complex and confusing mixed messages commonly found in the media. Together, we can embrace the future. But there's no sense in moving forward if we are all ignorant to the facts. Ignorance is not bliss. Get informed. Be informed. |
